The Awards

The School's Pride
The Robotic Competition saw the school singing with praises for her sons and daughters who brought joy and fame to the school.
Yes, once again the teams managed to bring home some esteemed awards.

How can there be success without the sacrifice and selfless attitude of the coach? She spends hours helping her students and knows no tiredness. Her conscientious effort and dedication even caught the hearts of the judges who without qualms awarded her the Best Mentor of the competition. Congratulations, Grace.

The Gold of the Innovative Category for the Lower Secondary group undoubtedly went to the 3 friends- Abdul Hakim, Zhen Hou and Ai Shan.

I was informed that all that was required of the robot to perform came to pass without fumbles; so their creativity was obvious and won the many who were there especially the judges. So they were no.1.

Iskandar, Jia Foo and Loong Yi were placed 3rd in the Upper Secondary Category but the mentor is confident that they will do better the next round. They qualify for final selection in Johor next month.

The boys and girls and the teacher did the school proud.
May they continue the tough run in the final National Level the following month.

The Colorful Carnival

Fun Elements were rife this year; like never before.

If you think it is easy to organize a carnival; try it. Days and months of preparation plus a lot of sweat and tears will also mean rewarding moments. The carnival is done well when sufficient thoughts and effort are poured in. But the most grateful moments are when individual parents choose to donate generously. I wish to personally remember Christy Tee, Stephanie Ng and Sally Pee for their selfless attitudes and strong support. They have helped financially and morally. It is great to work with people such as them.

The Director of Education of Selangor was gracious to be our guest of honour; taking time off to be with us. He repeatedly reiterated that he has never seen a school carnival of this scope and nature inundated with such fun. He concocted the local ABC (ice kacang) and he showed enthusiasm and excitement.

How could he be not bewildered when his concoction was auctioned for RM200.00! His wide-opened eyes and mouth exhibited his astonishement! Parents here sure are dough-filled!

These pretty teachers turned canteen waitresses for the day; mari, mari, mari minum kopi!

These cute ones are ready to put on their best music and caught the hearts of all present.
The teacher is cuter.

By popular demand; the ghost houses. There were 7 of them ; all fully booked.

These painted faces thought they could frighten people with their facades; highly mistaken.

The King and Queen of Ghosts are the best represented to instill any possible fear! They look real; don't they? You notice the dismal look on the queen? How did the king manage to pull off so effectively? The younger ones would not dare to go near them...

It's water time ! Water games are the most popular during carnival times. It's officially allowed and all rules can be broken to accommodate fun.

Does she look like a teacher? Yes she is one. She is also the leader of fun and volunteered to be dunked!

Look at Miss Chan. She seemed happiest when dunked! Hope she would be in school in one piece!
But she was such a sport and received great support from the young and old; she bullied and was bullied !

This is a new feature. The paintings were done by our very own students; displayed for appreciation and sale. The guest of honour was very impressed with the display.

The pretty Japanese dolls backed by Madam Choo attracted many to have tea, coffee and fun at the cafe.

We also had students putting up creative dances and the crowd was surprised at the special performance.

Stars of Soul to Shine shone brightly on this day too. Most of them took great pleasure in showing their skills. The Tay brothers are deft at the key board.

Alyssa and Imran powerfully rendered their "Prayer" and entertained the crowd professionally.

The bright Vi Jia and May Yean were a hit !

Samuel Tee is versatile. The keys are under his control and he played beautifully; to be appreciated by skillful ones.

Oh how fun ... the local MJ is every each MJ ; what with his perfect gait and dancing legs. RM3.00 for a  shot with him. What is RM3.00?

The perfect entertainer.
Watch his dancing.
He is MJ himself.

What a Carnival.
One difficult to forget.

Happy Family Day

The Annual Happy Family Day
This year it is on 8th July.
Please come and have fun with us.

Every year it is the PTA's challenge to fill up their coffers for special projects. Projects undertaken complement the already existing facilities. But it's never enough. There is so much to improve and do. Many things need attention. So the PTA decides on which the urgent ones are. This year they hope to build a better physical structure for the extra-curricular activities.
We tried to build one last year but the fund was insufficient.
So, hopefully the fund will suffice this year.
But it is an uphill task to raise funds. Many feel that government aided schools already have enough support but they fail to comprehend that when you need to build the school; the effort is on your own shoulders.Yes there is enough grains to feed on but you would like to add chicken and fish to your menu.
That will build the children and allow them to be better achievers.

Parents should be grateful that the teachers walk the extra mile. See those eggs? They are for the children to sell during recess. But the teacher buys them, keeps them and then coordinates in the sales.

Don't these elements tell you something about the teachers? They move around silently and dutifully do their best. This is before the carnival, on the happy day itself, they know no tiredness. My wonderful teachers.

You may find it strange. But the children love this. This was a presale time; a day or 2 before the big day to boost up the spirit of sale during recess. They cook what they like to eat; believe me the children love it.

They had tremendous fun displaying their entrepreneurship and skill. The canteen caterer watched in awe. They will also sell them next.

I bought them; teacher, teacher, teacher our tom yam fish ball is the best; they told me. It did taste good.

Colorful bubble tea was a real hit !
They really sold what they like to eat.

The best cooked chicken...full support from the friends; Patrick told me.

For a few times they did these; they had meaningful exchanges and a change of diet !

While everyone is busy, the Principal is not spared. She has plans up her sleeves. She is going to be the chef on the happy day. Oh really, come and give us the support. Buy, buy, buy many, many, many coupons.

You will not be disappointed. Every meal will be provided. Just come. By the way there is also going to be a Grandpa and Grandma 's stall operated by the PTA chieftain.

Come and spread the joy together. Help us reach our dream.
Come.

Ingenuity

Great Stuff

We were cordially persuaded to have a peep at their work; their blood and sweat concoctions.
Boys are boys; they are different from girls.
Girls love girly things; origami, dolls, love stories, baking, cooking and gossiping.
Boys love things that I don't understand; ROBOTS.
But they can be obsessed by their love; no night and no day.

Do you understand why they are trying to do? The mechanism is supposed to carry 'containers' and drop them at the strategic spots without causing any collapse.

The boys are deciphering what could possibly go wrong; whether their robot will fumble in its act. They explained that the greatest challenge is to get enough power to ensure a smooth ride by the robot in its duty to accomplish its task. So the power must be right amount for right moments.

The juniors are also very enterprising. They create models that can climb an uneven topography without dropping off . They come with their computers and remote controls to monitor the movements.

These models are no cheap toys. Their parents have invested quite a bit on them; with the hope that the children will develop skills beyond the normal calling. Will these ones turn out to be scientists? Will they be the ones to create the best devices? Great creators must have started from school benches; don't they?

Look at the keenness. We are really proud of their enthusiasm.

Whoops... this thing could not have been created in a little while; in fact I have been told that they have been working on it since months ago.Calculations must be super accurate for the robot to take instructions well. On receiving a stimulus, the robot is supposed to push it away ; what a challenge. Perfect coordination between instruction and action. Even humans don't take instructions well. That's why it is sometimes better to control a robot.

Another one; we were told that this one can really take orders well. Isn't it sweet?

One of the boys actually told me that his parents are behind his interest in robots and that they have created a remarkable home environment for him and his siblings to develop their skills. His parents have invested quite a bit in their robots and he repeatedly say that he is grateful for their support. This boy I spoke to by the way has a tremendous penchant for writing. He has multiple intelligences and very wholesome.

The children in school are a creative lot; there is no end to it.
