A New Day

 Windsor and Eton by Day

After a good breakfast dad drove off from our designated parking lot at Langton House and began the adventure for the day.

Dad drove to the banks of the Thames and we watched the feather family wading leisurely in good spirits.

The misty morning was chilly and temperature was low although we were not too sure how low it was.
But it was picturesque.

Dad said they understood the human language and the swans were obviously used to the company of men and women...so what can I do for you ? I don't have any food for you...

Besides the white swans, the colorful ducks completed the painting.

What about you? Will you shade your coat and become the beautiful white one too? We wondered.

That's the Windsor bridge across the Thames that separates Windsor from Eton.

Eton has many old, quaint buildings. They remind one of Shakespearean times.

The sturdy bricks add character to the buildings and they seem to symbolize eternity. The temperate weather is excellent for the blooms. They are a sight to behold.

In the background is a glimpse of the famous Eton College where the rich and famous are groomed including Prince William and Prince Harry.

As we strolled along the town, we saw shops displaying gifts and goods.

As the morning was still early, the shops were all closed. Or maybe being a Sunday, the vendors are at church. The shops are to open late.

Sara and mama in front of Eton College.

We finally had a view of the college but it was of course closed and not for public viewing. However we did see young men coming out of the college in black tailor coats; they wear them to school !It depicts strict discipline and formality.
Sara said some world famous personality like David Cameron came from here. The syllabi here must be very exclusive aiming to groom the best of the best. I asked her if she had a chance and she can afford it, would she send her children here? Then I offered to babysit for her while she slogs at home...Very soon we argued about the need to send children away at a young age. How do we pass down the values of the parents if they leave home at an early age? Who will nurture them the way it should be? The arguments developed into a quarrel. So we stopped at that.

Further down we saw an English garden behind some gates; the flower were so bright and pretty that we could not resist looking at them again and again.
Then this statue caught our attention. On top of it the words read ...My Duty Is To My Country...
That's why Sara must go home to serve her country.

The early morning mist and cool air was perfect for the locals to walk, exercise and cycle. But it was just too cold for me.

Of course, soon Windsor Castle came into view again. This time in bright daylight. A popular tourist destination for many are curious to find out more about the Royal family's residence.

Many joined in the local tour around the castle but we did not go in as Sara had gone in earlier on and told us that it is quite similar to the Ludwig Castles we saw in Germany.

The train station was nearby and many alighted for the town.

Nothing could really shield me from the cold ; I had put on many layers and finally my head had to be covered for my ears were hurting. We did not anticipate the weather to be so chilly; or maybe it was just me...Sara reiterated that it was just nice for her. She had been through killing winters.

Very close by near the train station, we saw signs of the impending season; CHRISTMAS...
Bookings were already on for lunch on Christmas day.
What are we having for Christmas this year; it caught my mind reeling.
After a couple of hours here, we had to move on to our next destination; Reading.
